No. 10 Arkansas softball battles back to win series-deciding 'toughness battle' vs. No. 11 South Carolina

FAYETTEVILLE — On her 259th pitch of the weekend, Arkansas left-hander Robyn Herron shut the door on a series victory over South Carolina.

Herron turned a game-ending double play to complete a come-from-behind, 5-4 victory over the Gamecocks, an emphatic conclusion to a rubber match Sunday at Bogle Park.

No. 11 Arkansas (31-9, 10-8 SEC) got a 122-pitch outing from Herron, who tossed a complete game and did not throw with a lead until the final inning.

Herron’s quick glove on a liner rocketed at her by Arianna Rodi and flip to first base for the double play stranded the fifth and final runner of the game for 11th-ranked South Carolina.
