FAYETTEVILLE -- The Arkansas athletic department confirmed Wednesday that it has started an investigation of the volleyball program after receiving an anonymous letter sent by people claiming to be several "outraged" parents of players and demanding the resignation of Coach Robert Pulliza for intimidating and bullying their daughters.
The letter called Pulliza "sadistic and a danger to young minds."
Through an Arkansas spokesman, Pulliza declined an interview request.
The Razorbacks ended Pulliza's eighth season as their coach on a four-game losing streak that dropped their record to 17-13, including 7-11 in SEC play.
"Although an anonymous letter does not provide an opportunity to authenticate the legitimacy of the author(s) of the letter or its contents, we have initiated an inquiry into the allegations," the athletic department said in a statement released to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
