Former Arkansas pole vaulter Sandi Morris finished second Thursday at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon.
Morris, who won the U.S. national meet last weekend with a personal best jump of 16 feet, 2 3/4 inches, failed on two attempts at 16-0 3/4 and one attempt at 16-2 3/4.
American Jenn Suhr won the event after clearing 16-2 3/4 on her first attempt.
It is the third time Morris has finished second to Suhr - the world-record holder and reigning Olympic champion - at a world meet. Morris has finished second at the last two U.
