James McCann's first extra-base hit of the season came in the form of a triple in the Detroit Tigers' 9-1 win over the Chicago White Sox Sunday.
The former Arkansas star has been the Tigers' backup catcher since Opening Day and has appeared in six games, helping Detroit to a 10-2 record, the best in the big leagues.
After tripling to leadoff the third inning of Sunday's game, he scored on an RBI single by Rajai Davis.
This season, McCann is 3-for-19 (.158) with a triple, two RBIs, two runs scored, one walk and four strikeouts.
