MEMPHIS -- A lesson Bret Bielema learned from Kansas State Coach Bill Snyder 12 years ago helped Bielema and Arkansas recover from a difficult start this year to find itself pitted against the Wildcats in Saturday's Liberty Bowl.
Snyder's 2003 Kansas State team, ranked No. 7 in the preseason, got off to a 4-0 start before losing successive games by a touchdown or less against Marshall, Texas and Oklahoma State. Snyder instituted what he called a 1-0 approach to each week the rest of the season, convinced the Wildcats had the ability to contend for their first conference title since 1934.
