NORTH LITTLE ROCK — It wasn’t a happy homecoming for Anton Beard.
Beard, a sophomore guard for the Arkansas Razorbacks, came off the bench in a 69-66 overtime loss to Mercer here on Saturday night at Verizon Arena.
The game was far from the storybook ending the Arkansas fans were hoping for as the Razorbacks couldn’t put it together against a scrappy Mercer team.
Arkansas had come into the game on a two-game winning streak but the Razorbacks are now 5-5 on the season after the loss.
The Razorbacks had some chances down the stretch in regulation and again in the overtime but Mercer had an answer every time, mostly in the form of Jestin Lewis, who finished the game with 21 points, after scoring a career high 28 points against Auburn earlier this week.
