One year after winning two NCAA championships at Arkansas, Omar McLeod is now a world champion.
McLeod won the 60-meter hurdles with a world-leading time of 7.41 seconds Sunday at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon. McLeod represented his home nation of Jamaica.
It is the first world championship for McLeod, who turned professional last June. He finished sixth in the 110 hurdles at the World Outdoor Championships in Beijing last August.
McLeod is the second former Arkansas athlete to medal at the world meet this week. Sandi Morris finished second in the women's pole vault Thursday.
