LSU scored three runs in the sixth inning to take the lead and the No. 15 Tigers held on to beat Arkansas 5-4 Friday at Alex Box Stadium.
The Razorbacks scored a run in the ninth inning on a wild pitch by LSU pitcher Hunter Newman, but Clark Eagan struck out to end the game and strand the tying run at third base. Eagan hit a solo home run to leadoff the eighth inning and pull Arkansas within 5-3.
The Tigers (29-16, 12-10 SEC) loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth to force Arkansas starter Dominic Taccolini out of the game.
