David Lingmerth notched his third career top-10 finish on the PGA Tour by placing third at the Quicken Loans National golf tournament in Gainesville, Virginia, Sunday.
The former Arkansas golfer had three bogeys over his final 11 holes to end the tournament at 14-under, four strokes behind the winner, Troy Merritt.
Through seven holes Sunday, Lingmerth was 3-under on the day and tied for the lead. However, he bogeyed hole No. 8, then had two birdies on hole Nos. 11 and 14 sandwiched around back-to-back bogeys on No. 12 and No. 13.
He was four shots behind Merritt, who finished at 18-under, and only one stroke behind second-place finisher Rickie Fowler, who was 15-under.
