Kjerstad, Ezell power Arkansas in regional opener

FAYETTEVILLE — Central Connecticut State coach Charlie Hickey wasn't sure where exactly the firepower would come from in Arkansas' balanced lineup Friday afternoon.

In the middle innings, that pop came from right fielder Heston Kjerstad. Then, in the eighth inning with the Razorbacks holding a 9-5 lead, first baseman Trevor Ezell put the finishing touches on an 11-5 win in the opening game of the NCAA Fayetteville Regional.

Arkansas moves on to face the winner of Friday's nightcap between TCU and California at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

"Every pitch I had to compete," Blue Devils starting pitcher Brandon Fox said.
