FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas coach Eric Musselman challenged junior guard Mason Jones in the days following a subpar showing in the team’s first exhibition last weekend.
On Thursday, Musselman said Jones responded with the best week of practice in the coach’s six-plus months on the job and hoped the practices would carry over into Friday night’s exhibition game against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
They did.
Jones, who fouled out against Arkansas-Little Rock after scoring four points and turning the ball over three times in less than 20 minutes, stole the show in Arkansas’ final preseason tuneup in Bud Walton Arena, scoring a game-high 22 points in the Razorbacks’ 78-51 win before an announced crowd of 3,509.
