Football is the most important sport in the Southeastern Conference. It’s the most important sport in all of collegiate athletics, even. The game has long since usurped the title of “America’s Pastime” from baseball, even as folks like myself are loath to admit.
Unfortunately for Arkansas, that’s bad news.
In the last 10 years, the Razorbacks have garnered fewer overall wins, fewer SEC wins, fewer bowl appearances and fewer times finishing in the Top 25 of the College Football Playoff rankings than any program in the Southeastern Conference except Vanderbilt. And as much as the die-hards want to find a way to manipulate the numbers and suggest Arkansas is a stronger program than, say, Mississippi State, or the like, it’s a stretch.
