John Calipari: Boogie Fland returning gives Arkansas basketball 'breathing room'

FAYETTEVILLE — Boogie Fland has one concern with returning to play for the Arkansas basketball team when it faces Kansas in the NCAA Tournament first round Thursday at 6:10 p.m. Central in Providence, R.I.

Fland, who is 53 days removed from surgery on his right thumb, does not want to mess up the momentum the Razorbacks (20-13) built over the season’s final stretch.

Arkansas had an 8-5 record without Fland.

The guard averaged 15.1 points, 5.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 18 games played. But in his absence, the team seemed to discover and embrace roles.
