FAYETTEVILLE — Jermaine Petty was ready for it to end.
The night had grown chilly and the crowd inside Mississippi’s Vaught-Hemingway Stadium had grown weary in the wee hours of Nov. 3, 2001. Four hours and 14 minutes after the opening kickoff, on the 198th play of the game, in the seventh overtime period, all it took was one stop.
Now 15 years later, that moment and the Razorbacks’ 58-56 victory still resonate with Petty.
As the ball was snapped, the Arkansas senior middle linebacker immediately recognized the play, which had gone for an Ole Miss touchdown pass earlier in the game.
