One of the hardest things we do in life is walking away from something we love and letting go of it. Alex Collins did the walking away when he made the choice to enter the NFL draft, and now Arkansas fans have to do the letting go.
The latter may be harder than the former, but why? Yes, we held out hope that one of our own would have the chance to do things on the field that not even the likes of Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson or Darren McFadden were able to do. Collins joined McFadden and Walker as the only players in SEC history to run for 1,000 yards in each of their first three seasons, and had he returned for his senior campaign, Collins would’ve had the chance to be the first SEC back to do that for four years — and he also would’ve had a shot at becoming the league’s leading career rusher.
