The latest University of Arkansas football commitment, receiver Savion Williams, is a consensus three-star prospect by recruiting services, but his former coach believes he's underrated.
Williams, 6-5, 195 pounds, 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Marshall, Texas, chose the Razorbacks over scholarship offers from Baylor, Missouri, Texas Tech, TCU, Kansas State, Illinois, Kansas, SMU and others on Saturday.
Claude Mathis was the athletic director and coach at Marshall in 2017 and 2018 before leaving to become the coach at DeSoto in January.
"He's vastly underrated," Mathis said. "Sometimes east Texas can be under-recruited, and east Texas is a great place for kids and he's one of those kids that's deceptive and can freaking play, man.
