FAYETTEVILLE — It has been 18 years since Dave Van Horn and Jim Schlossnagle were in opposing dugouts during the postseason.
At the 2001 College World Series, Van Horn’s Nebraska Cornhuskers were eliminated with a 6-5 loss to Tulane, where Schlossnagle was an assistant coach.
“I remember how crazy Rosenblatt Stadium was on that day with all that red in there,” Schlossnagle said.
Van Horn and Schlossnagle have established themselves as two of the great college coaches in the years since. After leading Nebraska to its first two College World Series, Van Horn has led Arkansas to Omaha five times since 2004.
