“Both teams had a chance to win it. It was a well-played game,” Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn said.
Andrew Benintendi, who was awarded the Dick Howser Trophy for the top collegiate baseball player of the year, had a strong performance. Benintendi was 1-2 with two walks, one home run and two RBIs.
After a scoreless first inning, Virginia struck first in the top of the second with a solo home run by Joe McCarthy.
While Arkansas was able to show early success against Virginia pitcher Connor Jones, the Razorbacks struggled to score runs at the beginning of the game.
