LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — The University of Kentucky's Commonwealth Stadium is getting a new name: Kroger Field.
The school said in a news release Monday that an agreement between Kroger and university marketing partner JMI Sports is for $1.85 million annually for up to 12 years.
The name change still must be approved by the university board of trustees.
The school said the playing field name will be changed to C.M. Newton Grounds at Kroger Field. It was named C.M. Newton Field in honor of the former athletics director in 2000.
