Nine out of the 50 united states do not collect income taxes. The people in six of those states have voted for the Republican presidential candidate in each of the last three presidential cycles. Arkansas wants to be like those special six.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has made no bones about her stance on Arkansas state income taxes. She’s not a fan. In June 2024, Sanders said, specifically, her goal is to eliminate income taxes entirely. On Friday, Sanders signed into law a bill that does exactly that. Except it’s only for certain people.
