FAYETTEVILLE — Southern Mississippi has been one of the best offensive teams in the country this season, but couldn’t solve Arkansas pitcher Kacey Murphy on Saturday night at the Fayetteville Regional.
Murphy (8-4) hurled eight innings of two-hit, scoreless baseball as the No. 5 and top-seeded Razorbacks downed the second-seeded Golden Eagles 10-2 before 10,213 fans at Baum Stadium.
Murphy's outing left quite the impression on Southern Miss head coach Scott Berry, whose 44-17 team must now win three games - including a Sunday afternoon elimination game with Dallas Baptist - to knock Arkansas out of its home regional.
