FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas football player Scotty Thurman Jr. has been hired as assistant director of compliance at the Southeastern Conference office in Birmingham, Ala.
Thurman, 24, previously worked as an intern at the NCAA office in Indianapolis and as an academic advisor for the University of Arkansas. At the SEC office he will oversee violation reports and waiver requests, and coordinate background checks on game officials, among other duties.
In a statement, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said Thurman's background "gives him the background necessary to advance the initiatives of the SEC's compliance program and aid our member institutions in compliance and governance issues.
