Diversity critical for improving offense

FAYETTEVILLE -- Bret Bielema's ambitious aim since he arrived at Arkansas has been to turn the offense into one that averages 200 rushing yards and 200 passing yards per game over the course of the season.

The Razorbacks didn't manage to hit those standards in Saturday's 48-13 rout of Texas-El Paso, but a huge start in the passing game gives Bielema the hope it can be done.

Quarterback Brandon Allen accounted for a career-best 308 passing yards, the kind of performance that could push defensive backs a little farther off the line of scrimmage and provide wider lanes for the Razorbacks' run game.
