Dismissing Zach Root as “Trash” vs Ole Miss Is A Red Herring for Hogs’ Actual Concerns

Two approaches can be taken when examining Zach Root and his performance against Ole Miss in Friday afternoon’s Southeastern Conference opener for the No. 3 Arkansas baseball team. One is far more correct than the other.

Root, an East Carolina transfer who had been Arkansas’ best pitcher during nonconference play, recorded only nine outs, giving up 10 hits and seven runs, all earned, in the outing. His two walks and a hit batter exacerbated things, leading to an early exit, a 10-6 Arkansas loss and the Diamond Hogs’ 0-1 record to kick off play in the toughest conference in college baseball.
