FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore quarterback Rafe Peavey’s decision to transfer to SMU doesn’t really come as a surprise after watching last Saturday’s scrimmage. Ty Storey, a redshirt freshman, and Cole Kelley, a true freshman, took the majority of the second-team snaps, which totaled about 50. While this was happening, Peavey was nowhere in sight.
On Tuesday night, Peavey announced his transfer via Twitter.
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said he wanted the majority of the second-team snaps to go to Storey and Kelley to get more of a feel of where they were in their development. He also pointed out in the post-scrimmage news conference that Peavey had been around for three falls, and just because he was doing everything he was asked to do didn’t necessarily mean he was going to be on the two-deep depth chart.
