Arkansas claimed its first outright SEC regular-season softball championship Friday despite a 6-5 loss in nine innings at Texas A&M.
The Razorbacks (39-9, 17-5 SEC) clinched the title with Missouri's 3-2 win over Alabama in eight innings. The Crimson Tide trail Arkansas by three games in the standings with two games to play.
Arkansas scored a pair of runs in the first and fourth innings at Texas A&M, and added one more in the second. KB Sides led off the game with a five-pitch walk, stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch then scored on a Danielle Gibson groundout.
