Crimson Fried: Hogs Beat Washington State with Extremely Rare Tandem Feat

FAYETTEVILLE — Opening Day felt a lot like Groundhog Day for Arkansas baseball fans Friday afternoon.

Great pitching in the first half of the doubleheader was nearly wasted by their scuffling bats, but the Razorbacks eventually did just enough to escape with a 3-2 win over Washington State via a walk-off sacrifice fly by Brent Iredale.

The dramatic finish seemed to give Arkansas’ offense the energy boost it needed, as it cruised to a 14-2 win in the nightcap at Baum-Walker Stadium. Considering last year’s struggles at the plate and all of the offseason talk of a new philosophy at the plate, though, it was a concerning start to 2025.
