BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Before Ricky Council committed to and signed with Arkansas in the spring, he made his No. 1 goal abundantly clear.
A transfer from Wichita State, Council stated that he wanted to win defensive player of the year in the conference he landed in. The Razorbacks are eager to find out if he can live up to his own expectations.
The athletic wing may have as much defensive potential as any player on Arkansas’ 2022-23 roster. And there is thought he could fill the void left by Au’Diese Toney, who Eric Musselman considered his top perimeter defender a season ago.
