Howie Roseman had a simple thought in 2019 when he asked Jeremiah Washburn to consider switching sides of the ball to coach edge rushers.
The general manager for the Philadelphia Eagles had a theory. Who better to help an edge rusher understand blocking concepts than a career offensive line coach?
“Howie sold me on it,” Washburn said. “He made me believe in it.”
Two Super Bowl trips later there are no doubts that it was a masterful move for Washburn. The Arkansas graduate was still basking in the sunshine of the Eagles’ 40-22 demolition of the two-time reigning champ Kansas City Chiefs when we spoke by phone this week.
