Clive Pullen, a junior at Arkansas this year, won the triple jump Thursday night at the Jamaican Senior Championships in Kingston with a personal-best mark of 55 feet, 5 1/2 inches, according to The Gleaner, a Jamaican newspaper, and qualified for the 2016 Olympics this summer in Rio de Janiero.
Pullen, the NCAA indoor champion this year, exceeded the Olympic qualifying standard of 55-3 1/2. His previous best was 55-0 3/4 to win at the SEC Outdoor Championships this year.
Pullen is the first Jamaican man since Henry Jackson in 1972 to qualify for the Olympic Games in the triple jump, The Gleaner reported.
