In a matter of weeks, Bret Bielema went from possibly redshirting DJ Dean with a hamstring injury to having the cornerback in the starting lineup at TCU.
Bielema said Wednesday on the weekly SEC coaches’ teleconference that Dean practiced with no soreness Tuesday.
“He went through pre-game warmups and everything Saturday (before the Louisiana Tech game), so he was probably right on the verge. We tried to protect him. I knew this game was going to be a big one for him,” Bielema said of Dean, a Newton, Texas, native who was recruited by TCU.
Dean started 12 games last season and finished with 35 tackles and two interceptions.
