FAYETTEVILLE — When the Arkansas football team takes the field Saturday at Mississippi State, a heavier workload is expected for freshman running back Braylen Russell.
With starting tailback Ja’Quinden Jackson "very questionable" due to a right ankle injury and backup Rodney Hill’s status unknown, the Razorbacks are anticipating Russell’s usage to increase against the Bulldogs.
Russell, 6-1 and 253 pounds, ranks third on the team with 27 carries for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns. He rushed for a team-high 62 yards against Tennessee and was instrumental in the Razorbacks’ game-winning drive.
“I trust all of them, but I think let’s saddle up Braylen Russell and let’s go,” Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said during his news conference Monday.
