Sam Pittman doesn’t make a habit of calling players into his office, so when he does, it means something. That was the case for Braylen Russell on Monday.
With starter Ja’Quinden Jackson dealing with an ankle injury, the fifth-year coach felt compelled to talk to his freshman running back about his likely expanded role in this weekend’s Arkansas vs Mississippi State game.
“Braylen has been a good player for us, but I want him to know that his opportunities are going to amp up, the expectation of what he gets,” Pittman told reporters. “I wanted to throw some juice into him a little bit, juice him up, and get him ready to know this is gonna be a big week for him.
