FAYETTEVILLE -- A large number of Arkansas starters stayed in the game into the fourth quarter of the No. 18 Razorbacks' 48-13 season-opening victory over Texas-El Paso.
Coach Bret Bielema said under different circumstances he might have pulled a bunch of starters earlier, but he had a reason for giving them more playing time.
"I thought our guys needed to play a little bit longer," Bielema said. "We didn't do two-a-days, so that gruel and that intensity hadn't been in there yet."
Quarterback Brandon Allen and the offensive line starters were in for a time-chewing drive that took up the last 3:01 of the third period and the first 5:02 of the fourth period.
