FAYETTEVILLE - Michael Bernal carries his reputation for a reason. The Arkansas team leader in home runs has a tendency to get loopy with his swing at times as he seeks to knock the ball beyond the fence.
Sunday, though, Bernal worked old-school baseball at-bats in the late innings. He had all three Arkansas RBIs, including the game-winning two-run single with two outs in the eighth as Arkansas swept Auburn, 3-1, at Baum Stadium.
The series win lifted 20th-ranked Arkansas (18-6, 3-3), who was swept last week against South Carolina, into fourth place in the Southeastern Conference’s Western Division, ahead of higher-ranked teams LSU and Ole Miss.
