Bentonville infielder commits to Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas picked up a baseball commitment from an in-state infielder Friday.

Bentonville first baseman Tyler Johnson chose the Razorbacks over an offer from Wichita State.

Johnson, who bats and throws left-handed, had a .375 batting average with 2 home runs and 22 RBI as a sophomore. He also drew 18 walks and had an on-base percentage of .526.

"How exciting for that guy," Bentonville coach Todd Abbott said. "This is a great chance for him to continue his education and play right here in his backyard, and play in the SEC for a good team like Arkansas.
