Benintendi named SEC player of the year

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas center fielder Andrew Benintendi has been named the Southeastern Conference player of the year.

Benintendi, a sophomore, led the SEC with a .415 batting average and 17 home runs. He also had 51 RBIs and stole 21 bases.

Benintendi is the first Arkansas player to win the SEC award. He is projected to be drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft next month.
