FAYETTEVILLE — The awards keep coming for Andrew Benintendi.
The Arkansas sophomore center fielder earned another Player of the Year honor Thursday when Baseball America gave him that acclaim. Benintendi was named Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball Magazine late last month.
Benintendi is also a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given to the nation’s top amateur player. Coach Dave Van Horn called that award the “Heisman Trophy” of college baseball.
Benintendi’s 19 home runs are tied for most in the nation and he’ll have an opportunity to increase that total over at least two more games when the Razorbacks play on the College World Series beginning Saturday.
