STILLWATER, Okla. - Arkansas centerfielder Andrew Benintendi broke out of a slump and Arkansas picked up enough late-inning runs to hold off ORU’s comeback in the opening game of the Stillwater Regional, 8-6.
Benintendi, who was 1 for his last 14 before Friday, doubled home Joe Serrano and Bobby Wernes in the fifth inning before Tyler Spoon knocked him in with another double and Arkansas turned a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 lead before making an out.
Arkansas would build its lead to 8-3 after two more runs in the eight, but a three-run home run from All-American Anthony Sequeira pulled the Golden Eagles to within two, 8-6, with two outs in the ninth.
