FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas women’s basketball coach Mike Neighbors was asked about the SEC’s strength after the Razorbacks completed their nonconference slate with an 87-70 victory over Central Arkansas on Sunday.
He was complimentary of the league, which is rated as the country’s best by BartTorvik.com, saying there were “four or five” national title contenders and “12 or 13” who could qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
Arkansas got its first shot at one of those title contenders and saw the gap between itself and SEC contention. The Razorbacks lost to No. 6 LSU 98-64 at Bud Walton Arena on Thursday and trailed by as many as 49 points in the wire-to-wire defeat.
