Arkansas women's basketball defensive struggles on full display in loss to Oral Roberts

FAYETTEVILLE — Oral Roberts found open shots wherever it moved.

Backdoor cuts. Three-point shots. Midrange jumpers. Moves to the rim.

The Arkansas women’s basketball team entered Thursday with the No. 142 defensive efficiency, per Bart Torvik’s metrics. The Razorbacks, during a 94-73 loss to the Golden Eagles at Bud Walton Arena, showed why.

“We got punched right in the mouth real quick. We’ve been pretty good in the past at recovering from that, but there was no recovery tonight,” Arkansas coach Mike Neighbors said. “They kept punching. [Oral Roberts] played awesome; played great. Every time we would get any momentum, somebody would step up and get a big offensive rebound or a big tipped ball or a turnover.
