For the second straight week, Zach Root had a 7 in his final line. Luckily for Arkansas, it was in a different column Friday night.
The left-hander bounced back from a rough outing at Ole Miss by pitching all seven innings of the Razorbacks’ home SEC opener, a 12-2 run-rule win over South Carolina at Baum-Walker Stadium.
After some bad luck and poor defense contributed to him giving up 7 earned runs on 10 hits in just 3 innings last Friday, Root gave up just 2 earned runs as he mostly scattered 6 hits and 1 walk in the first complete game of his career.
