FAYETTEVILLE - Saturday was a record-setting day at Baum Stadium.
Chad Spanberger did something no Arkansas player had done in 22 years. His five strikeouts in five at-bats was ignominious. Arkansas beating the No. 2 team in the country, though, the opposite of that.
Even with Spanberger’s brutal day, Arkansas hitters did damage across the board to the Southeastern Conference’s West Division leaders. A 13-hit day peppered the Razorbacks to runs in four different innings, including a four-run sixth that broke a 4-all tie and lifted Arkansas, 9-5, in Game One of a doubleheader.
Arkansas has now won five of its past six games and moved to two games ahead of last-place in the SEC, pending the outcome of Tennessee-Missouri later Saturday night.
