Arkansas Takes Advantage Of Cowboys’ Collapse

STILLWATER, Okla. - Arkansas hitters capitalized on an Oklahoma State pitching meltdown in the eighth inning, rallying to stay in the winners bracket of the Stillwater Regional on Saturday, 7-5.

The Razorbacks trailed, 4-2, entering the eighth. OSU pitcher Michael Freeman had been borderline unhittable through the previous seven innings. Then he and his help simply collapsed.

Carson Shaddy, pinch-hitting for Tucker Pennell, drew a nine-pitch walk. Freeman started Joe Serrano 1-0 before his pitching coach came out for a visit. Serrano subsequently singled through the left side. Bobby Wernes, trying to sacrifice himself on a bunt, laid down a good one in front of the mound.
