Arkansas sprinter Jordan Anthony advances in 60 on Day 1 of NCAA indoor meet

Arkansas track and field’s Jordan Anthony, the SEC champion in the 60 meters, ran the third-fastest time in the world this year Friday at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.

Anthony improved upon his program-record time from the SEC meet with a time of 6.47 seconds in the semifinal. Anthony’s time tied for No. 6 all-time among collegians.

It was the second-best time in the prelims behind Southern Cal’s JC Stevenson, who ran a world second-best 6.46. Stevenson's was the fastest indoor time in the world this year.

Day 1 of the NCAA meet was primarily semifinals on the track.
