Strong pitching and an explosive second inning powered the Arkansas softball team to a run-rule shutout of Baylor on Saturday at the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.
The 10th-ranked Razorbacks (14-0) held the Bears to one hit in an 8-0 win in 5 innings. Robyn Herron tossed four hitless innings and freshman Lexi King closed the door by pitching the final three outs.
It was the first game of a doubleheader for Arkansas, which will face No. 4 UCLA (12-1) at 5 p.m. Central.
Herron (5-0) was in control in the circle, as she faced the minimum in all but one inning.
