FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas freshman running back Braylen Russell plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he shared on social media Tuesday.

Russell, a former 4-star prospect from Benton, had 47 carries for 304 yards and 2 touchdowns this season. He rushed for a season-high 175 yards with 10.9 yards per carry in a 58-25 victory over Mississippi State.

“This was not an easy decision for me being from the state of Arkansas,” Russell wrote. “But, through much prayer, reflection and many discussions with my parents and those closest to me, I have decided to do what is best for my family and I and enter the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility remaining.
