Arkansas Razorbacks senior running back Jonathan Williams will not play in the 2015 season after undergoing foot surgery, head coach Bret Bielema announced earlier today.
It’s a tremendous blow to Arkansas, as Williams was the team’s leading rusher last season with 1,190 yards and 12 touchdowns. His absence means that junior Alex Collins will likely become the No. 1 running back this season, which should not be a problem considering how he ran for 1,100 yards and 12 touchdowns as the No. 2 back in 2014.
But that also means that Bielema will need to search deep on the depth chart for some help for Collins and save for junior Kody Walker, who has managed 250 yards and seven touchdowns across four injury-plagued years, Arkansas would be relying on a motley crew of inexperienced underclassmen to help Collins shoulder the load.
