Arkansas men have best NCAA cross country finish in 20 years

The Arkansas men’s team took third Saturday at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wis., for the Razorbacks’ highest finish in 20 years.

Arkansas also took third in 2004 when the meet was hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind.

The No. 3 Razorbacks finished with 202 points. They were led by a fourth-place finish by senior Yaseen Abdalla, a transfer from Tennessee, who ran the 10,000-meter race at Wisconsin’s Thomas Zimmer Course in 28:41.5.

Arkansas’ women’s team, ranked No. 24, finished 17th with 431 points.

The Razorbacks were led by sophomore Paityn Noe, who finished seventh and ran the 6,000-meter race in 19:42.
