The Arkansas men's basketball team's NCAA Tournament first round game against Kansas on Thursday drew big viewership numbers for CBS, the network announced Friday.

The primetime window on the tournament's opening day, headlined by the matchup between the Razorbacks and Jayhawks, drew an average of 12.2 million viewers. It was the most-watched first-round window in the history of the tournament.

Tenth-seeded Arkansas defeated No. 7 seed Kansas 79-72 to advance to the second round against St. John's on Saturday at 1:40 p.m. Central.

The Razorbacks have been part of multiple games that drew large viewership in their first season under coach John Calipari.
